  1. Hello Michael,
Love these clips Long Tall Sally, to be honest I think both sound good McCartney can still hit those high notes, but there still seems to be a magic when it was The Beatles as a whole the latter version is very good but in the end it’s not The Beatles!

  2. Willie. That was actually my point in posting these videos. Paul can still bring it live. And worth every penny if you can spend it. And while I’m seriously amazed he can still (at 72!) reach down from god knows where and reach that upper register of his vocal range, without compromising the key he originally sang it, albeit now with some more straining, it doesn’t stand up to to the Beatles performance. Of course, it can’t and I accept it as it is as such. Nor am I knocking his band as I think they’re a pretty great regardless. They are about as good as a side unit as he can find.

Paul has done a great deal of touring since 1989 and the quality of his touring bands since then has been good to great, at least to me. But Paul never seemed more at home as a performer than when he had the other three Beatles with him as did they with him and each other as well. I don’t necessarily have a problem with this. But I just can’t get away from the live magic, or for lack of a better word, the chemistry of those four together. Ultimately though, it’s too far big a legacy for anyone to have to go through life with. But Paul does it about as good as humanly possible.

  3. Hello Michael,
I totally agree with you the musicans playing with Paul McCartney are some of the best in the industry, but there was a certain chemistry when The Beatles preformed together as a group. That’s why they called it Beatlemania I don’t think that will ever happen again in the history of modern music!

  4. Hello Michael,
I have a question for you it’s something I’ve given thought to many times, what do you think music would be like if The Beatles never happened, what direction do you think music in that time period would have gone, I always try to imagine what the music would be like if not The Beatles then who do you think could have been a runner up to change the course of music history as we know it today!
